Jab Derailleur Cage Types

There are 2 cage types for the Jab derailleur. We recommend the long cage regardless of the cassette size, but for those who want the tidiest looking drivetrain possible, the short cage is an option.

Long Cage

  • Cassette tooth count: 42 teeth to 52 teeth (largest cog).
  • Pulleys: 14T upper, 14T lower.
  • Typical use: 1x MTB, 1x gravel, and eMTB.

Short Cage

  • Cassette tooth count: 40 teeth to 44 teeth (largest cog).
  • Pulleys: 14T upper, 14T lower.
  • Typical use: 1x gravel race gearing, and narrow range 1x MTBs (such as 11 speed).

Chains

Compatibility: The pulley teeth and cage fully compatible with 12, 11, 10 and 9 speed chains, including T-Type chains and flat-top chains. 

Cage Lock

Every Jab derailleur has a cage lock feature that makes removing and installing your wheel easier. You can insert a tool (such as a 4mm hex or T25 torx) to hold the cage in place and remove the chain tension.
