Jab Derailleur Compatibility
One of the main features of the Jab derailleur is its compatibility with many modern drivetrains! This includes 1x mountain bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes.
All the Jab 1x derailleurs use the same "base" assembly. From there, the options are:
- Cam Option
- Cage Type
- Mounting Type
- Color
Cam Option
The cam is what allow the Jab to work with a variety of different shifters and cassettes. The cam options cover a range of modern 1x drivetrains. We offer a range of cams for MTB, gravel (drop shifters), 12 speed, and 11 speed from SRAM and Shimano, with more cams coming in the future.
Check out our Cam Selection page to find the right option for your drivetrain.

Cage Type
-
Long Cage
- Maximum cassette tooth count: 52 teeth.
- Pulleys: 12T upper, 14T lower.
- Typical usage: 1x MTB, eMTB, wide range 1x gravel.
-
Short Cage
- Maximum cassette tooth count: 44 teeth.
- Pulleys: 12T upper, 14T lower.
- Typical usage: 1x gravel, narrow range 1x MTBs.

Mounting Type
There are 3 mounting options that stem from 2 basic styles of mounting.
- Conventional: The Jab can mount to any derailleur hanger using the M10x1 threaded hole. Note: You can even run the conventional mounting type with a T-Type cassette, but you will need the T-Hanger.
-
Dual mount:
- UDH dual mount. This option adds an external stiffener plate that mates to a UDH hanger to add strength and stiffness to attachment. This has the same effect as direct mount derailleurs such as "T-Type".
- T-Hanger dual mount. This option is similar to the other dual mount, and is specifically designed for T-Type cassettes. This option has the 2.5mm offset that the T-Type cassettes require, and you will need to purchase the T-Hanger separately.

Other Compatibility Details
Chain Compatibility
The pulley teeth and cage fully compatible with 12, 11, 10 and 9 speed chains, including T-Type chains and flat-top chains.
Barrel Adjusters and Cable Routing
Depending on the type of cam you select, your Jab might come with a barrel adjuster. MTB shifters have the barrel adjuster built in, so one is not needed on the derailleur. But drop shifters (found on gravel and road bikes) do not have barrel adjusters, so the derailleur needs one.
The Jab has 2 positions to for routing the cable housing. Along with the barrel adjuster, the routing options ensure that whether you cable is routed on the chainstay or seatstay of your MTB or gravel bike, there will be a clean way to run the cable to the Jab.
