Retaining Rings
Our Missing Link kits use 2 types of retaining rings for SRAM derailleur rebuilds. All installation steps are covered in detail in the installation guides in the Support Center.
Type 1 is less reliable. However, on cable actuated derailleurs, it is the only retaining ring that fits in the counterbore of the cable cam. It can be installed with the small spacer press tool or the Knipex 49 31 A0.
Type 2 is recommended for all possible locations because it is more reliable. It is installed with the small spacer press tool. It fits all locations on SRAM AXS derailleurs, and 3 out of 4 locations on SRAM cable actuated derailleurs.
