The Jab is a configurable, cable actuated derailleur built for all types of 1x bikes. It is named after the iconic Jabberwocky trail here in Ashland, Oregon!
Whether you’re replacing a tired derailleur or building a new ride, the Jab is designed to integrate seamlessly into a variety of different 1x drivetrains.
This Jab derailleur is optimized for gravel bikes with drop bar shifters. If you need a MTB Jab, check out the full collection.
Why Jab?
-
COMPATIBLE
Flawless shifts with common 1x12 and 1x11 gravel drivetrains, and robust mounting options.
-
REBUILDABLE
Built to be rebuilt and maintained as a mechanism that supports you for years. Easily serviced and adjusted with common tools. Adjust it, rebuild it, replace damaged parts, or change the configuration for a new drivetrain. On top of that, you will have access to the latest part update as the Jab evolves.
-
DURABLE
The Jab is precision machined from high quality materials like 6061 and 7075 aluminum and stainless steel. We apply a little bit of extra material and clever geometry in critical areas to ensure the assembly is stiff and durable. We also offer mounting options with an additional stiffener plate, which has similar strength and stiffness to "direct mount" derailleurs.

How did you develop Jab?
Madrone Cycles was founded by Mechanical Engineer and lifelong racer and rider Aaron Bland in Ashland, Oregon in 2023 - taking naming inspiration from the iconic local madrone trees which symbolize our commitment to durability, aesthetics and unique character.
Once upon a time, Aaron’s battery-powered wireless derailleur stopped working after taking a light thrashing our awesome local MTB trail system. Riding home stuck in a high gear and lamenting his derailleur's vulnerability to basic mountain biking usage, its high replacement cost, and the environmental issues related electronics waste and composite plastics manufacturing… Aaron decided to start a different kind of component maker: a company focused on making drivetrain products durable, rebuildable and compatible across main-stream maker’s standards.
After a season of development and testing of rebuild kits and tools for SRAM derailleurs, Madrone Cycles launched at the 2024 Sea Otter Classic. After tons of additional testing and development, the ultra-compatible, system-agnostic, precision-engineered Jab Derailleur debuted in late 2025.
At Madrone we believe in quality, repair, sustainability, and innovation, and we’re just getting started.
